Is the father obligated to fast for two consecutive months as expiation for each person who died in a car accident that he caused, and how is the duration of the fasting calculated: is it 60 days, or does it follow the Hijri or Gregorian months, and must the fasting begin at the start of a month?

If the accident occurred without negligence on the part of the person, then there is no guarantee or expiation required of him. However, if it was due to some neglect and dereliction of duty, without intentional killing, then two things become obligatory: 1. Expiation (Kaffarah): This is the freeing of a believing slave. If one cannot find a slave, then it is fasting for two consecutive lunar months. 2. Blood money (Diyyah): This is paid to the heirs of the deceased and is borne by the 'Aqilah (the relatives of the perpetrator from the paternal side).

The expiation multiplies with the number of deceased individuals. The expiation is calculated in lunar months, and it is not necessary to start at the beginning of a month.
