The answer

If a man has intercourse with his wife, thinking that the time for prayer has not yet entered or there is still time, and then it becomes clear that the prayer time has elapsed, he should pray after the time has passed, and there is no sin upon him because there was no intention or deliberation. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my nation their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are coerced into." However, if the time for prayer was short and he had intercourse, and then the time elapsed, he is sinful due to his neglecting the prayer, not because of the intercourse itself. If he had already performed that prayer, it is absolved from him; otherwise, he must make up for it.
