Is there a way for repentance, such as supplication, to get rid of the sins committed by a man or a woman?

Intercourse with a menstruating woman in the vagina is forbidden (haram). The one who commits it must repent and seek forgiveness (istighfar), and give a dinar or half a dinar in charity as expiation. Likewise, it is forbidden to have intercourse with her after the cessation of bleeding and before ritual purification (ghusl). The one who commits this is sinful and owes expiation. Sincere repentance, remorse, and a firm resolve not to return to the sin, along with an increase in good deeds, are necessary.
