What is the ruling on leaving one's parents to live with one's wife abroad, when the parents disapprove and threaten eternal wrath?

It is not permissible to travel for the purpose of relocating, unless there is a valid reason, without the permission of one's parents. This is due to the hardship and grief it causes them. Al-Suyuti, in "Al-Ashbah wa Al-Nadha'ir," stipulated the prohibition of a child's travel except with the permission of their parents. Exceptions to this include travel for the obligatory Hajj, seeking knowledge, and trade. The rights of parents are immense and take precedence over the desires of their children, as long as it does not involve disobedience to Allah. Allah has enjoined kindness to them after His own right, and prophetic traditions have affirmed the importance of honoring parents, stating that Paradise lies beneath the mothers' feet, and that disobedience to them is among the greatest sins. One should obey one's parents and seek employment where they reside, and address them with gentleness and wisdom when unable to fulfill their command or when it involves hardship.
