What is the ruling on using fruits, vegetables, flour, herbs, and some food spices in producing cosmetics for skin and hair care, and what are the permissible and impermissible products?

It is permissible to benefit from foods for purposes other than eating and drinking, such as using them for bodily restoration or beautification, based on the Almighty's saying: ﴿It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth.﴾ If these foods are processed and transformed into another substance, as in cosmetics, there is no harm in using them, because they have departed from their previous description through what is known as "transformation" (istihalah). Jurists have stipulated the permissibility of using substances prepared from impure things and others if transformation has occurred and no trace of taste, color, or smell remains. Sheikh Ibn Baz and Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen have issued fatwas permitting the use of eggs, henna, honey, and milk for hair and face if there is a benefit and it does not reach the point of disrespect.
