What is the Takhrij of the Hadith: "Behold, the millstone of Islam is turning, so turn with Islam wherever it turns. Behold, the Qur'an and the ruler will separate, so do not abandon the Book. Behold, there will be misguided rulers over you, who will decree for themselves what they do not decree for you. If you obey them, they will mislead you, and if you disobey them, they will kill you"?

This is part of a long Hadith narrated by Al-Tabarani from Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take the grants as long as they are grants. But if they become a bribe in religion, do not take them. Yet, you will not abandon them, for poverty and need will prevent you. Verily, the mill of Islam is turning, so turn with the Book wherever it turns. Verily, the Book and the ruler will separate, so do not abandon the Book. Verily, there will be rulers over you who will decree for themselves what they do not decree for you. If you disobey them, they will kill you; and if you obey them, they will lead you astray." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the solution, and he replied: "As the companions of Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus son of Mary) did: they were sawn with saws and carried on wood. Death in obedience to Allah is better than life in disobedience to Allah." Al-Haythami mentioned that in its chain of narration, Yazid ibn Marthad did not hear from Mu'adh, and Al-Wadin ibn Ata was deemed weak by a group, while the rest of its narrators are trustworthy.
