Is it permissible to read the Holy Quran without facing the Qiblah?

Facing the Qiblah is not a condition for the permissibility of reciting the Qur’an. It is authentically reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite [the Qur’an] on Fridays while on the pulpit, not facing the Qiblah. However, scholars have mentioned that facing the Qiblah is among the recommended courtesies for the reciter of the Qur’an, out of reverence for it.
