If the deceased leaves behind only a wife, two sons, and daughters, then the wife receives one-eighth (1/8) due to the presence of a lineal descendant, as Allah Almighty says: "But if you have a child, then for them [the wives] is one eighth of what you leave." The remaining inheritance is distributed to the sons and daughters by way of ta'sib (residuary inheritance), "with the male receiving the share of two females." The inheritance is thus divided into eight shares: the wife receives one share, each son receives two shares, and each daughter receives one share.
