Is it obligatory to inform the girl and her family about the suitor having one testicle and the consequent lack of medical examinations regarding fertility?
The castration that permits annulment of marriage is the removal of both testicles together, or their removal along with the penis. As for the removal of one testicle, it is not a castration that warrants annulment unless it prevents intercourse. The difference between impotence ('innah) and castration (khisa’) is that impotence prevents erection of the penis, while castration may or may not prevent it. If it prevents intercourse, then she has the option to annul the marriage; otherwise, she does not. If the removal of one testicle does not prevent the ability to penetrate, there is no need to perform a procedure to confirm procreation, because infertility is not a defect that annuls the marriage. Castration of human beings is forbidden without dispute, unless it is due to an illness.
