Is it valid to perform ghusl from janabah by wiping the entire body with a hand moistened with water, or is it obligatory to pour water over the body?

In ghusl (ritual bath) and wudu (ablution), it is obligatory to pour water over the limb and body so that it covers them completely. Merely wiping is not sufficient. It is recommended to use a minimal amount of water while ensuring full coverage, provided that the water flows over the limb and is not merely wiped.
