What are the ways to atone for backbiting a colleague due to her relationship with a Christian young man, and what should I do so that God does not punish me, and should I advise her to stay away from him even though she has abandoned those who advised her?

The basic principle is that mentioning a Muslim in their absence with something they dislike is forbidden backbiting. This is only permissible for a valid reason, such as seeking help in advising them.

Repentance from backbiting involves remorse, abstaining from it, and resolving never to return to it, along with supplication and seeking forgiveness for the person one has backbited. It is not a condition to inform them of this, due to the potential harm that might result. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Allah, I make a covenant with You which You will not break. I am but a human being, so any believer whom I have hurt, or insulted, or flogged, or cursed; make it a prayer for him."

And the one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin; they will not be punished for it in this world or in the Hereafter.

It is advisable to counsel the colleague and warn her against illicit relationships.
