What is the ruling on styling hair – or raising it – during wedding parties, and what is the ruling on that for the bride on her wedding night?

It is permissible for a woman to style and adorn her hair on her wedding night, and it is commendable to assist her in doing so, provided that it does not involve imitation of disbelieving women or immoral women. The forbidden imitation is that the hairstyle be exclusive to disbelieving or immoral women. Raising the hair upwards, or making it into a bun on top of the head, or parting it from the side, has been prohibited by some scholars due to imitation of disbelieving women. Some also included the bun in the condemnation of the hadith: "Two types of people from the inhabitants of Hellfire..." and in it: "their heads are like the humps of tilted camels." If the exclusivity of parting from the side or the bun to disbelieving women ceases and it becomes widespread among Muslim women, then it is not forbidden.
