What is the ruling regarding money found by a woman under the threshold of her room, which is believed to be compensation for her daughter's torn clothes, and is it permissible for her to donate it as charity or give it to the mosque, and is she sinful for making her family members swear an oath?

It is highly probable that the owner of the money intended to transfer ownership to the woman, and she is permitted to take possession of it without knowing its owner. However, the more scrupulous approach is to treat it as a found item (luqatah), based on circumstantial evidence and the statements of jurists. If the woman wishes to take possession of it, or to contribute it to the construction of a mosque, or to give it as charity to the poor, there is no sin upon her. As for administering an oath, there is no sin in it if there is a suspicion, and a trustee may be made to swear an oath if there is evidence of their betrayal. Oaths are administered to resolve disputes, and an oath is legislated in financial rights if the claimant has no clear evidence.
