Is it true that the narrations mentioning angels knew that the Caliph would shed blood before the creation of Adam, due to the corruption of jinn on Earth, are from the Israʼiliyyat (Jewish traditions assimilated into Islamic lore)? Was Iblis one of the angels or one of the jinn, and why was he excluded from prostrating with them? Was Iblis among those close to God before the command to prostrate, and why can he not repent?

Scholars differed regarding the reason for the angels' knowledge of humankind's corruption, and they mentioned several explanations for this:

1. God informed them beforehand: That Allah Almighty informed them about the nature of Adam's progeny and that they would cause corruption and shed blood. This is narrated from Ibn Abbas, Ibn Mas'ud, and Qatadah. 2. Their understanding from the word "Caliph": That when they heard the word "Caliph," they realized that some of humankind would cause corruption, because a Caliph is intended to bring about reform and abandon corruption. 3. Their knowledge of the jinn's previous corruption: That the angels knew what the jinn had done in terms of spreading corruption and shedding blood on Earth before Adam's creation, where they caused corruption, so Allah sent Iblis and his soldiers against them, and they drove them to the islands of the seas. This is narrated from Ibn Abbas and Abu Al-Aliyah, and it is considered among the Isra'iliyyat (narratives from Jewish and Christian traditions) which are permissible to narrate as long as they do not contradict a legal text.
