What is the ruling on a wife traveling to complete her studies or returning to her home country for work without her husband's consent?

There is no need for a husband to stipulate that his wife should not go out for work or other activities, because the fundamental principle is that she is not permitted to leave his house except with his permission. Therefore, it is not permissible for a wife to leave the house or travel for work or study without her husband's permission. If she leaves his house without necessity, she is sinful and disobedient (nashiz), and her right to financial support (nafaqa) is forfeited. The basis of the relationship between spouses is affection, mercy, understanding, and each one considering the circumstances of the other.
