Does a daughter's obedience to her father, who harasses and beats her, remain valid and religiously obligatory?
If what is mentioned in the question about the father molesting his daughter is true, then this act is contrary to human nature (fitra) and Islamic law (), and this father must be advised and reminded of Allah. As for the girl, she must treat him as a stranger; she should not allow him to be alone with her, nor should she reveal her adornments in front of him. She should also seek someone among her relatives or responsible authorities who can protect her. This girl must be helped, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or oppressed." Helping the oppressor means preventing him from oppression. As for her obedience to him in what is good, it is obligatory and does not cease due to his wrongdoing. The transgression of a guardian does not invalidate his guardianship according to the most preponderant opinion. However, if he refuses to marry her to a suitable suitor, she should refer her case to the Sharia judge.
