What is the ruling on performing a specific act of worship with the intention of having a prayer answered?

Intermediating through good deeds is permissible. There is no harm for whoever prays, fasts, gives charity, or maintains kinship ties, drawing closer to Allah so that He may answer their supplication for the fulfillment of a certain objective. It is hoped that this will be granted to them, even though dedicating the act of worship purely for closeness to Allah is more virtuous.
