Is it permissible for a man to wear a silver ring that exceeds the weight of a mithqal due to the addition of an agate stone to it?

It is permissible for a man to wear a ring of silver and precious stones, but it is forbidden for him to wear a ring of gold. Scholars have differed regarding the permissible weight for a man's ring. The Hanafis held that it should not exceed one mithqal, while the Malikis said it should not exceed two dirhams. The Shafi'is and Hanbalis did not specify a particular weight, contenting themselves with what is customary, as long as it does not deviate from common practice or reach the point of extravagance. The most preponderant opinion is that there is no harm in wearing a silver ring according to what is customary, even if it reaches one mithqal or more, as long as it does not reach the point of extravagance or ostentation.
