The answer

It is narrated in Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah from Al- that when he hears the mu'adhdhin say, "Hayya 'ala as- (Hasten to the prayer)," he should say, "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (There is no might or power except with Allah)." And when he says, "Qad qamati as-Salah (The prayer has been established)," he should say, "Allahumma Rabba hadhihi ad-da'wati at-tammah, wa as-salati al-qa'imah, a'ti Muhammadan su'lahu yawm al-qiyamah (O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer which is about to be established, grant Muhammad his request on the Day of Resurrection)." And that whoever says this at the time of the (call to prayer before commencing it) will be granted the intercession of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, on the Day of Resurrection. This is maqtu' (a narration from a Tabi'i). As for the du'a' (supplication) after the (call to prayer), the authentic has indicated it, which is the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever says upon hearing the call: 'Allahumma Rabba hadhihi ad-da'wati at-tammah, wa as-salati al-qa'imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wa al-fadilah, wa ab'athhu maqaman mahmudan alladhi wa'adtahu (O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer which is about to be established, grant Muhammad al-Wasilah and al-Fadilah, and raise him to the praised station which You have promised him),' my intercession will be made lawful for him on the Day of Resurrection."
