The question

What should a woman do if she was unable to make up for the days of menstruation from the previous Ramadan before the arrival of the next Ramadan, and she does not have sufficient money to feed the poor for the many days she missed: Does she wait until the full amount is available, or does she feed in installments according to what is available?

The answer

If someone delays making up for missed days of until the next Ramadan begins, despite being able to make them up, then they must feed a poor person for each day they missed, with an amount of food equivalent to a mudd (approximately 750 grams). It is recommended that this feeding accompanies or follows the making up of the fasts. However, if the feeding precedes the making up of the fasts, it is permissible. If they do not find enough [food] for the number of days, they should give what they can, and then expiate for the remainder if they find it later.
