What is the ruling of Sharia on electronic auctions that require purchasing points to participate, where the participant loses their points if they do not win the auction?

This form of auction is not permissible due to its resemblance to gambling. The participant either wins the item at a very low price or loses what they paid in points, and this is gambling. Stratagems do not make a sin permissible; rather, they increase its sinfulness. Allah has condemned deceivers, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not commit what the Jews committed, so you legalize the prohibitions of Allah with the slightest stratagems." Gambling is forbidden, even if its name is changed.
