What is the ruling on selling goods through an auction system that requires purchasing attempts to participate?

This transaction is impermissible gambling according to Sharia, because the customer pays 50 riyals and may either win the item or win nothing and lose what he paid. This is precisely the forbidden gambling according to Sharia, as Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, indeed intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing to] stone altars, and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may succeed." Therefore, this transaction, in the manner described, is not permissible.
