Is it permissible to break off an engagement after two months due to a feeling of unease regarding the suitor's height and short stature, and a perception of weakness in his personality, despite his religiosity, sense of responsibility, and distinction, along with fears of being unable to respect him in the future or regretting the breaking off of the engagement?

It is permissible to break off the engagement if you dislike the suitor, based on the statement of Ibn Qudamah: "It is not disliked for her to withdraw if she dislikes the suitor; because it is a lifelong contract in which harm will endure, so she has the right to be cautious for herself and to consider what is best for her."

Nevertheless, if the suitor is a man of religion and good character, it is better not to break off the engagement. Before breaking it off, consult wise people and seek guidance from Allah through Istikhara.
