What is the ruling concerning an uncle who created problems with his siblings, defrauded the court with false witnesses, and changed his family affiliation to another, while his siblings have continued to ostracize him for more than five years, and how should his siblings deal with him?

A severe warning and threat have been issued against anyone who falsely claims lineage to other than his father. This is mentioned in several hadiths, among them: "Whoever knowingly claims lineage to other than his father, Paradise is forbidden for him," and "Do not forsake your fathers, for whoever forsakes his father has committed an act of disbelief," and "Whoever claims lineage to other than his father, or attributes himself to other than his masters, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. Allah will not accept from him on the Day of Resurrection any recompense or justice."

It is obligatory for whoever has done this to perform sincere repentance. Their family should advise them and inform them of the Islamic ruling. They (the family) bear no sin if he insists on his action. If shunning him does not deter him or make him abandon the sin, then it is not permissible to continue shunning him. And let them know that his false claim of lineage does not change the fact that he is their brother.
