Is it incumbent upon us, who have been integrated with a loyal tribe for three centuries, to sever this strong bond and awaken dormant strife, in order to appease an ignorant questioner, based on your fatwa that our cousin is distributing?

Indeed, there is an established prohibition against a person claiming a lineage other than their original one. Whoever claims to be the son of other than his father, knowing that he is not his father, Paradise is forbidden to him. Similarly, whoever turns away from his father is guilty of disbelief (kufr).

This disbelief (kufr) can be interpreted in two ways: either the disbelief of one who considers it lawful (istihlāl), or the disbelief in gratitude for blessings, kindness, the right of Allah Almighty, and the right of one's father.

The prohibition of claiming lineage from other than one's father is based on these proofs. It is not permissible, regardless of whether the tribe respects the claimant or disparages them. There is no harm in maternal kinship or alliances, provided the original lineage is maintained.

The forbidden alliance is the alliance of inheritance or whatever is prohibited by Islamic law. However, alliances for the obedience of Allah, supporting the oppressed, and brotherhood for the sake of Allah are encouraged.
