What is the difference between rulers and parents if both forbid what is permissible?

Obedience to the ruler in restricting permissible matters is obligatory if the benefit is clearly defined or preponderant, and in accordance with the jurisprudential principle: "The ruler's disposition over the subjects is bound by benefit." Obedience to parents is not permissible in disobedience, but it is obligatory in matters other than that, subject to certain conditions. If parents prevent their children from permissible matters without deeming them forbidden, then obedience to them is obligatory if these conditions are met; otherwise, it is not.
