It is permissible to perform a sex-change operation on a hermaphrodite with an ambiguous condition (khuntha mushkil) to either male or female, due to the hardship and difficulty that would result from not allowing it. As for the hermaphrodite whose condition is clear, it is not permissible to change their sex; however, it is permissible to remove excess features that do not belong to their sex.
