Is looking at a solar eclipse forbidden, as some scholars in Egypt have ruled?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
There is no religious text that prohibits looking at a solar eclipse. The ruling depends on the reports of doctors and experts. If it is medically proven that looking at it harms eyesight, then it is prohibited by analogy with everything that harms a person and offers no benefit.
