Smoking is impermissible, as is selling it or assisting in it. It is forbidden due to its harm and because it is among the impure things. Therefore, it is not permissible to work in a cigarette factory, even if the work is as a guard, because this is considered assisting in sin. As for the salary the husband receives from this work, it is forbidden only for him, and it is permissible for the wife to take from it, and there is no sin upon her. The wife should continue to advise her husband to leave this forbidden work and clarify that lawful sustenance is abundant.
