How can our God and the God of the People of the Book be one, when some of them worship Christ and Mary and others, and Allah Almighty says in Surah Al-Ankabut, verse (46): "And our God and your God is one"?

The noble verse refers to the one true God to whom all harm and benefit, creation, giving life, and causing death are attributed. He is Allah alone, and all creatures have acknowledged this, willingly or unwillingly. Humankind acknowledged Allah's Lordship in the realm of pre-existence (alam al-dharr), and the polytheists acknowledged Him as the Creator, Provider, and Disposer of affairs.

Allah clarified the disbelief of the People of the Book in taking deities other than Him, such as the Messiah, and their belief in the Trinity. The Quran called upon them to worship Allah alone and to abandon every other worshipped entity, as stated in His Almighty قول: "Say, 'O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you – that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah.'"
