What is the ruling of Islamic law concerning a young man marrying a girl whose family has a bad reputation, knowing that the young man's mother rejects this, and that the girl herself is blameless, and the young man strongly desires to marry her?

Obeying parents in what is good is one of the most emphasized rights and duties. Therefore, the young man must first strive to please his mother so that she agrees to his marriage to the girl, if she is of good character and religious. If she refuses, then he must leave her; because obedience to the mother is obligatory, and marriage to this girl is not obligatory, and what is obligatory takes precedence in Islamic law over other matters.
