Is it permissible for an ordinary person who is incapable of research to consult his heart when there are multiple opinions, and what are the areas in which one may consult his heart, and does this include acts of worship when there is ambiguity?

Righteousness is that to which the soul is at peace and the heart is at rest, and sin is that which wavers in the soul and causes hesitation in the breast, even if people give you a fatwa. This is a special consultation for someone whose heart is pure and who has not found a legal argument; in such a case, he must then refer to what wavers in his breast. He must also ask people of knowledge about what is unclear to him, and he should not follow his own opinion and judgment, nor interpret verses and hadiths contrary to what Allah and His Messenger intended.
