What is the recompense for a wife, in the sight of Allah, for exposing her body to a foreign man online? Is she considered among those who commit zina (unlawful sexual intercourse)? And what should the husband do concerning her: should he forgive her or divorce her?

A wife who engages in an illicit relationship with a man other than her husband via the internet commits a grave sin, based on Allah's saying: {They are a garment for you, and you are a garment for them} (Quran 2:187), meaning each of them conceals the other from what is unlawful. If the wife repents sincerely, then "one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin." However, she must be careful not to fall into such a situation again in the future, as the internet is a dangerous tool if one does not safeguard oneself from its temptations. The husband must be firm with his household and keep them away from causes of temptation, based on Allah's saying: {O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire} (Quran 66:6), and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Each of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock." The husband should raise his family upon faith, be a role model for them, and frequently supplicate: {Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us leaders for the righteous} (Quran 25:74).
