Why did Allah Almighty create lust in humans, despite His ability to keep humanity without it? And why did He command them to strive against it, when there are Quranic verses that speak of enjoying women? And why did He forbid fornication yet permit cohabiting with slave women without marriage?

The human soul is astonished by obsessions that yield no practical results, such as questioning the wisdom behind everything, which some people do, diverting them from their intended mission. Moreover, some questions related to wisdom can lead to doubt in one's faith. One of the secrets of human existence is the test of servitude to God, meaning that a person is exposed to impulses of righteousness and corruption. Desires, such as the love of money, prestige, and children, are among these impulses embedded in the human soul. At the same time, God created within humans the knowledge of God and the love of virtuous values. This creates a struggle between good and evil, and whoever chooses good attains a higher status with God than angels. Desires, including sexual desire, are part of the pleasures of this worldly life, which God has adorned for humans to test their balance, and the balance of the universe. Sexual desire has positive aspects, such as tranquility and solace, and negative aspects if it transgresses limits. There are permissible ways to satisfy desires, and God has facilitated marriage to counter the forbidden path. Desire is necessary for the preservation of the body and for reaching the afterlife, but it becomes blameworthy if a person overindulges in it. The divine wisdom in creating desires aims to test humans and afflict them with love and hatred and the adornments of this world, so that they may choose the path of obedience. Islam has unanimously prohibited cohabiting with married female slaves. One must submit to God's wisdom, for He is the wisest of judges, and His knowledge surpasses human intellect.
