What is the difference between committing a sin openly (al-mujaharah) and a sin committed by a person who is informed about it, and is the latter considered a public declaration of sin?

The one who publicizes his sin is he who reveals his disobedience and uncovers what Allah has concealed for him, speaking openly about it. Publicizing a sin differs from merely pointing it out, as pointing out a sin does not require the pointer to be its doer. Both lead to the widespread prevalence of sins. The one who publicizes his sin commits two transgressions: the sin itself and publicizing it. Publicizing the sin can bring upon him many evils due to its role in spreading indecency and setting a bad example. Its sinfulness continues for him until the Day of Resurrection.
