What should a wife do if her husband asks her to remove her hijab, knowing that "there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator"?
If the husband orders his wife to uncover her hair, neck, and the like, this is an order to disobey Allah, and there is no obedience to a creature in disobeying the Creator. The woman must remain steadfast and not abandon her hijab. Allah the Almighty said: (And it is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error). However, if the order is only to uncover the face and hands, and the wife fears harm from divorce, then there is no blame upon her in that, and she would be considered coerced.
