In fact, connecting with your father is an obligatory act of obedience, and showing kindness to relatives is religiously مطلوب (enjoined), even if they are disobedient. You must gently and wisely forbid them from evil. If you fear harm, there is no sin in refraining from verbal denouncement. Teaching your mother matters of her religion and helping her obey are among the greatest forms of righteousness. You should convince her of the correctness of your stance by explaining the religious ruling and consistently offering advice with courtesy and gentleness, without overburdening her. Supplication is one of the most beneficial means."
