The answer

There is no objection to using the mentioned form of seeking forgiveness (Istighfar), but it is better to limit oneself to the transmitted (Ma’thur) formulas. As for the saying "as befits the majesty of Your Face," it was mentioned in the context of praise (Hamd) in a that scholars have deemed weak. It was narrated by Ibn Majah, and it states that two angels did not know how to record the statement of a servant who said: "O Lord, to You is praise as befits the majesty of Your Face and the greatness of Your authority." So Allah said to them: "Write it as My servant said until he meets Me, and I will reward him for it." Al-Albani has weakened the chain of narration of this hadith. And Allah knows best.
