Is the "Best Dish" competition, in which mothers participate and dishes are evaluated and winners are chosen, included in the prohibition mentioned in the hadith, "Two who compete (for worldly gain) are not answered [their supplications are not granted], nor is their food eaten," or is it permissible?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the food of two rivals (al-mutabariyayn), who are those who compete in hospitality out of pride, ostentation, and boastfulness. This is considered disliked (makruh (definition)) but not forbidden (haram (definition)). As for the described competition, it does not fall under the prohibited food of two rivals, because its intention is not to show off or boast by providing food. Rather, its ruling remains on its original permissibility and lawfulness. Competitions in general are permissible if they do not involve a material prize. However, competitions for prizes are not permissible except in archery (al-nasl), riding on camels (al-khuff), and riding on horses (al-hafîr).
