Is it not obligatory for a father to marry off his son, and what should be done under these circumstances?
First: A wealthy father must marry off his poor son and provide for him in terms of food, drink, education, and the like, because marriage and maintenance are part of the obligatory expenditure.
Second: The son is not obligated to provide for his father unless the son is wealthy and the father is poor. If the father is wealthy, the son is not obligated to provide for him. However, if the father asks his son for money and the son does not need it and will not be harmed by giving it, he should give it to avoid being disobedient. But if the son needs the money, he is not obligated to give it to his father, and he should explain his financial situation to him.
