What is the ruling on prolonging the Qunoot supplication in Witr and other prayers?
The Qunut supplication after rising from bowing in the Witr prayer does not require a specific supplication. The best is to recite the well-known supplication that has been transmitted through the Sunnah.
If the worshiper is praying alone, there is no harm in prolonging the supplication. However, if he is an Imam, he is not permitted to burden the congregants, and he must shorten the supplication.
This ruling applies to supplications in prayer in general: an individual may prolong their supplication during prostration and before the salutation, while an Imam should shorten it.
