What is the ruling on intoning supplications in Witr prayer as one intones the recitation of the Qur'an?

There is no harm in intoning supplication as long as it does not exceed the usual limit into excessive elongation, melodic chanting, and vocalic embellishment, because that contradicts the humility obligatory in supplication. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Supplicate Allah while you are certain of a response, and know that Allah does not answer a supplication from a heedless, inattentive heart."
