The answer

There are indications in the Holy Qur’an that Allah’s love for His servant precedes the servant’s love for Him, because Allah’s love is the origin that brings about the servant’s love and success. And it has been mentioned in the Holy Qur’an that Allah’s love comes after the servant performs what is beloved to Allah, such as His saying: {Say, "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you"} (Aal-Imran: 31). The reconciliation between the two views is that Allah’s love for the believer, whose life concludes with faith, is predetermined in Allah’s knowledge, but it materializes in reality through the servant’s action which earns him Allah’s love.
