The answer

Muslims must refer to the Book of Allah and the of His Messenger in all matters, and abandon tribal customs and man-made laws that contravene the . Indeed, referring to other than Allah and His Messenger for judgment is among the greatest abominations, and may lead to disbelief if one believes it to be permissible or considers the judgment of other than the Sharia to be superior. There is no faith for one who does not judge by Allah and His Messenger in the fundamentals and branches of religion. Therefore, it is not permissible to revive tribal laws that contravene the Sharia; rather, judgment must be sought according to the Sharia, which rectifies both religious and worldly affairs. Tribal elders must refer disputes to the Sharia courts, while reconciliation between disputants is permissible so long as it does not contravene the Sharia.
