Am I obligated to give my second wife the same amount of money I gave my first wife to buy gifts for her sister's wedding, even though there is no similar occasion for her?

The jurists have agreed on the obligation of justice between wives regarding lodging, sustenance, and clothing. They differed concerning what exceeds that, such as gifts, on two opinions:

1. Permissibility and non-obligation of equalization, as long as each wife has received her due right.

2. Obligation of equalization absolutely, and this is the path of piety.

Based on the first opinion, it is permissible to single out one of the wives with an additional gift, and it is better to give the other a similar gift on another occasion.
