What is the ruling on remembering Allah (dhikr) with the daff (tambourine) and what is known as the "Hadrah" (a Sufi gathering) which includes teaching matters of religion, while some people experience states of fainting and seizures therein?

Taking up the daff (tambourine) and entertainment as a means of remembering Allah was not part of the guidance of the righteous predecessors. Some scholars have denounced it, such as Ibn al-Haj, who described it as playfulness, foolishness, and a renunciation of decorum, emphasizing the purification of remembrance gatherings from such acts. He also stated that the Companions abstained from attending listening sessions that involved such actions. Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that the Prophet, peace be upon him, did not legislate gathering for melodious verses accompanied by clapping or playing the daff, and that the narration about the Prophet, peace be upon him, falling unconscious upon hearing the poetry of the Bedouin is a fabrication, by the consensus of those knowledgeable about his biography.
