What is the fate of a disobedient person if he dies in the month of Ramadan, despite the Gates of Hellfire being closed therein?

It is not mentioned in the Qur'an that the gates of Hell are closed in Ramadan; rather, this is mentioned in the noble Hadith. The closing of the gates of Hell in Ramadan does not mean that disbelievers and disobedient people will not enter it if they die. Instead, it is a metaphor for the believers' diligence in acts of obedience and abstention from sins during this month, which keeps them away from Hellfire. The fate of a disobedient person who dies in Ramadan is like the fate of any other disobedient person: it is up to Allah's will; if He wills, He may forgive him, and if He wills, He may punish him, except for shirk (associating partners with Allah), which Allah does not forgive.
