Is a daughter considered disobedient and sinful if she goes against her mother's wish for her to complete her higher university education, and she herself desires to devote her time to understanding matters of her religion?

It is advisable to strive to reconcile academic studies with seeking Islamic knowledge, especially with the availability of means for acquiring it. If combining them is not possible, obedience to the mother and enrollment in studies become obligatory, unless there is harm in them, or if seeking Islamic knowledge is an individual obligation (fard ayn). In any case, one should strive to acquire a measure of Islamic knowledge to the best of their ability.
