What is the ruling on a father favoring his male children over his daughter, depriving her of her rights, and treating her with injustice and cruelty?
Injustice is forbidden, and a father's injustice towards his children is an even greater sin, as it constitutes severing ties of kinship. One form of his injustice is not treating them fairly in gifts and dealings. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded fairness among children. Nevertheless, it is not permissible to respond to this injustice with ill-treatment, due to the sacredness and greatness of parents' rights, even if they are disbelievers. It is recommended to be patient and kind to the father and to supplicate for his guidance, for kindness removes animosity and unites hearts. It is not permissible to run away from home, as it is an act of disobedience and exacerbates problems rather than solving them.
