The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against lying to make people laugh by saying: "Woe to him who speaks a narration to make people laugh thereby, and he lies. Woe to him, woe to him." And whoever does that out of forgetfulness, this threat does not apply to him; for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my nation their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are coerced into."
